Outsource all of it. (just do my taxes and tell me I’m wealthy).
Manage it yourself. (wtf, who has time for that?!)
Outsourcing may seem like a no-brainer, but, it’s not that simple. Truth is… you’re the best person to do your bookkeeping because you know what’s going on day in and day out.
When relying on outsourcing becomes a problem
Imma back up for a second here. Because I want to be clear: there is a time and a place for outsourcing your bookkeeping. But, there’s a hella good amount of work that we, as small business owners, need to do (and understand) before really reaping the benefits of it! Time and time again I’m seeing Canadian small business owners hiring out their entire financial process too early, not realizing that outsourcing is not for everyone.
Saying you’re going to outsource your books doesn’t guarantee that you won’t be scrambling at the end of the year or that you’ll even know your numbers… that’s a problem amiga!
You’re still responsible for knowing what your accountant is asking for or even talking about. Even more importantly, you’re still on the hook for providing the proper information for bookkeepers to do their thang. That may not seem like a biggie, but it can leave you without accurate information that’s required to make those money move$ we just talked about.
