I have a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and a CPA, CA designation.
I spent 4 years in public practice working as an auditor (yep, I was that girl) and 8 years as a financial reporting expert in a publicly-traded construction company.
In between all of that, I spent 2 years teaching university-level accounting courses, which is when I realized how much I loved teaching and public speaking! (Hello, full-circle moment!).
I’m an R&B and rap-singing finance-fanatic and CPA who’s always up for a dance party and any opportunity to help creative, impact-driven entrepreneurs level up their business, improve their money mindset, and take control of their ca$h.
I take pride in making all things finances, accounting, and taxes less stressful and more FUN, because we all need a little more laughter and positivity in our lives!

That’s alright. I wanted to write my OWN story…
Like many people, I had a vision of the “perfect” life and how it would all play out. I’d go to school, graduate, get my degree, and find a secure, cushy job in my field that I could spend the next 40+ years at until retirement.
And I did all of that. But most importantly, I married the love of my life and brought an amazing human, our son, into the world. Being a mom is the coolest freakin’ title and the one I’m most proud of!
While I was completely fulfilled and my heart was overflowing at home, I always felt like something was missing when it came to my career.
Did I really picture myself spending my entire LIFE working long hours in a stuffy office, wearing dress pants and heels, busy with work that didn’t seem impactful? When I looked around me, I knew… this ain’t it! I’m more of the work from anywhere in my jeans and sneakers kinda girl.
As a classic type-A-risk-averse accountant, it took me a long time to get over my fear of the uncomfortable and unknown. But eventually, I got up the courage and decided to tell my fear to shove it, and I couldn’t be more grateful for it!
In 2015, I started Caritas Company as a side hustle, and in 2018, I finally decided to shoot my shot and take the leap! I dropped out of the 9-5 corporate world and dove head-first into helping entrepreneurs and small biz owners feel a helluva lot more empowered in their finances.
Now… we here. And we are freakin’ thriving!

Why Caritas Company when your name is Kristine?
Good question… I get that one a lot actually. 😉
And it’s one of my favourite questions to answer, because my biz name means the world to me.
Caritas, in Latin, means LOVE. The ancient Greeks used the term Caritas to express their love and affection or to admire and honour someone.
Yes, I’m a numbers AND ancient history #nerd.
But when I thought about what I wanted my company to represent… it couldn’t have been more fitting.
Love is what gives real meaning to my work, and I wanted my business to help inspire other entrepreneurs to find love in their work, too.
Because a business that lights your soul on fire, makes an impact, AND that provides in the financial department… that’s something to admire!
I wanted my company to represent all the things that bring me LIFE.
Real, authentic connections, innovative collaborations, building community with others, and of course, my love languages of music (rap and R&B, in particular), and all-out dance parties. 🎶💃🏻
I’m NOT your average accountant or finance-guru (obvs), and I don’t want to be.
