Hello Friends, It’s Me, Kristine | Calgary Bookkeeper

Oh hey there, it’s your girl Kristine. It’s been a while so as Jay-Z would say, allow me to re-introduce myself. Do people self-interview themselves? Just kidding, someone else wrote these questions to make it easier to get to know me!

Describe yourself in 3 words:

  • Energetic

  • Silly / Always dancing

  • Excel artist

Hit us with your business elevator pitch:

My name is Kristine. I'm a 💰 educator and your all-around financial hype woman. 🤙 I help entrepreneurs make sense of their cents so they can have mo' money but not mo' problems.

Give us a little history of yourself:

  • Born & raised in the Philippines

  • Moved to Calgary, Canada with the fam at 14 yrs old

  • Got Bachelor of Commerce from University of Calgary and got my CA (Chartered Accountant) too.

  • The first few years of accounting were eye-opening - long hours, low pay, I never knew what I was doing (it’s like my degree was completely useless and nothing I learned in school applied to real life). I was surrounded by some of the hardest working people. We worked hard, and definitely played hard.

When did you know you wanted to start your own business?

During my first visit to NYC in 2009, I was hella inspired by people’s creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. I just knew that one day I will venture out on my own to create something that embodies my passions: math, money and music.

How has your business evolved?

I originally offered CFO services and the usual bookkeeping, accounting and tax. I was seeing so many preventable mistakes and inefficiencies. I had to find a way to teach business owners how to be proactive and avoid these common mistakes. That’s when Bookkeeping Bootcamp was born.

Since 2019, I’ve helped over 100 startups and entrepreneurs transform their financial process so they can have mo’ money and not mo’ problems.

What is the main financial mistake you see small business owners make?

Not investing in expert help from the beginning.

What’s your top tax tip people need to know?

Keep business transactions separate from personal spending… you’ll get better data and it will help you pay less taxes.

What do you do for fun?

  • Dance

  • Read

  • Try new restaurants

What would be your last meal ever on Earth?

Crab boil :)

What’s your pump up song right now?

  • You (Regard, Troye Sivan, Tate McRae)

  • STAY (Justin Bieber, the Kid Laroi)
